North / West Norfolk

 

This area of the county offers visitors many opportunities during their stay here. There are miles and miles of sandy beaches such as Brancaster which is only a 25 minute drive away from "The Wheatcroft" B&B.

Or why not take time out and walk amoungst the rolling hills that suround us. Have a morning coffee at one of the many small villages that can be found around and about our coastline.

Bird Watching Tours with The Bird ID Company offers a variety of tours, all of which provide fantastic opportunities to see a wide range of different birds in and around Norfolk. The tours range from one day trips to five day holidays during migration times. We cater for all abilities from complete beginners who are interested in a general selection of birds to more experienced birdwatchers who maybe targeting certain species.

Extreeme Adventure, Weasenham, within 8/10ths mile from us
is a high ropes course built in some of the tallest trees in Eastern England, in the beautiful new wood, part of the Weasenham Woods, Norfolk. We are on the A1065 8 miles North of Swaffham and 8 miles South of Fakenham. Large signs on the A1065 in the Weasenham Woods indicate the turning off the main road. The car park is only 400 yards from the crossroads.

   The North Norfolk Railway, Poppy Line, Sherringham

 Offers a 10.5 mile round trip by steam train (vintage diesel trains on some journeys)

  through a   delightful area of North Norfolk designated as being of outstanding

  natural beauty. Enjoy a ride on an historic steam train - you can break your journey

  to look around the stations and marvel at the steam laden atmosphere from a

  bygone age. Dogs and cycles are welcome on the trains although there is a small 

                                     additional charge.

 Sandringham House, Sandringham, Norfolk
 Sandringham House is a country house on 8,000 acres (3,200 ha) of land near the

 village of Sandringham in Norfolk, England, which is privately owned by the       British Royal Family.

 

 

   Castle Acre Priory (English Heritage) Swaffham, Norfolk
   One of the largest and best preserved monastic sites in England.Visit this beautiful priory located in the                                           village of Castle Acre.

The village itself is perhaps the finest example of Norman estate planning. Take the audio tour and hear all about the daily lives of the monks - visit the cloister, refectory and chapter house and admire the priory's superb Norman facade which still rises to its original height. Wander through the recreated medieval herb  garden then experience the

earthworks of Castle Acre Castle nearby.

Hillside Shire Horse Sanctuary

Visit the animals including Shire Horses, ponies, donkeys as well as many many other animals pigs, sheep, rabbits and many more rescued animals. The site at West Runton near Cromer also has a visitors shop and cafe, free car parking, a collection of farming bygones in the museum. A great day day out for all the family. Open daily 10am - 5pm from April 5 until 1 Nov Closed on Sats during June,July and August / Closed Friday and Saturday in Aopril May Sept and Oct.
